The use of the speculum, primary directions and aspects in mundo are the most accurate timing tools in astrology. Advocated by Ptolemy and used by ancient and medieval astrologers, these tools show the hidden aspects in both natal and return charts. This workshop will include examples in both natal and mundane astrology

Using a Speculum

A speculum is a list of the rising, culmination and settings of planets and stars for a particular terrestrial latitude.  The use of a speculum will allow you to look at a chart in three, rather than two, dimensions.

A speculum is used to find aspects in mundo and primary directions in both natal and mundane charts.

The use of this ancient tool will allow you to find the hidden aspects in your natal chart and to more accurately pinpoint the timing of events.

Primary Directions

Secondary progressions chart the symbolic movement of planets within the horoscope. The technique of primary directions is a method of directing the angles of a horoscope to the natal planets themselves. Fewer in number than progressions, directions carry more weight and symbolize far more potent and important life circumstances and events.
