J.D.Vance and the 2024 Election

J. D. Vance is the Republican vice-presidential candidate for 2024. As with Donald Trump, he has Leo rising with Regulus, a royal star, near the ascendant and an angular Mars. Trump’s Mars is in the ascendant; Vance’s Mars is angular at the lower meridian. Their ascendants are both close to the ascendant of Washington’s First Inauguration, the chart of the presidency,* which also had Regulus close to the ascendant. Regulus is sometimes called “the Little King." Those who have it angular often gain noteworthy position or rank in life if other factors support it. Without supporting factors, they may merely be a foreman who wears a tie among people wearing overalls, or a teacher who has authority over children.
Angular planets are the strongest bodies in any horoscope. Vance’s angular Mars, on the cusp of the fourth house, is often symbolic of a broken family, which was the case with him. He was mostly raised by his grandparents, which is shown by Uranus in the fourth house, symbolic of a tumultuous or non-standard childhood.
Next, Venus is angular a little more than four degrees above the ascendant in longitude, but more than six degrees above the horizon in right ascension. That is lucky, often pleasant in demeanor, socially adept and in general, a smooth operator.
Neptune is closely trine the ascendant and conjoined to Jupiter, which together are symbolic of somebody who is carried in life, who is extraordinarily lucky and is likely to have several children due to the placement of this conjunction in the fifth house. Jupiter-Neptune combinations are also consistently present in the horoscopes of story-tellers, novelists and sometimes journalists who dispense information to the general public with an element of sensationalism attached.
The Sun in the 12th house is powerfully placed in the exaltation degree of Jupiter, and therefore enhanced. Nevertheless, as Cancer owns the 12th house and its ruler, the Moon, which is disposed by Mercury, one is obliged to look at the contacts with the Moon and Mercury to get a handle on how this 12th house Sun operates. Neptune is closely mundane square both Mercury and the Moon: Neptune rises with 13h 14m 38s of sidereal time and the Moon culminates in the M.C. with 13h 17m 07s. The difference, 2m 29s, is less than ¾° of arc. Accordingly, his mother had problems with addiction, which is why he was raised by his grandparents. The contact subtly, but profoundly, weakens one’s assessment of the first female model, the mother, such that the native may feel inclined to adopt behaviors to strengthen a portion of the life that didn’t begin well. He could easily desire to control the women in his immediate circle to ensure that his original problem did not recur.
Mercury is also closely mundo square Neptune. Mercury was in the I.C. with 22h 34m 22s, which is 2m 36s before Neptune set with 22m 36m 58s. That contact is also less than ¾° of arc from exact. Such people often play fast and loose with facts; worse, the mundo squares between Neptune and the Moon and Neptune and Mercury are both sinister squares. That is, the slower planet is east of the faster one. One wants the dexter square to put the faster planet east of the slower one for the best results. Trump also has the sinister square between Mercury and Neptune. He is not known for adherence to the facts. The shadow of those associations is laid over the 12th house, Mercury and the Moon in Virgo. The Moon, however, is not badly placed in Virgo; the native is often blessed with a strong intellect. Moreover, Vance’s Moon is conjoined to Spica (alpha Virginis), a very fortunate star, 7m 14s of right ascension from exact, which is less the 2° of arc. Vance graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in political science and then earned a law degree from Yale, although he lost interest in the law even before he graduated. He has Mercury trine Jupiter, which is the right symbolism for a good education, although it too is a sinister aspect.
The Sun in the exaltation degree of Jupiter is closely square Saturn exalted in Libra, which confers the Saturnian virtues of patience, resolve and a willingness to play the shrewd long game. It is a contact that is not good for the father, obviously even when exalted, who may be a harsh disciplinarian or absent; somehow he fails the native. This happened twice in his early life, when his mother divorced his biological father and then the step-father. The Sun is also closely trine Uranus in the middle of Scorpio conjoined to Antares (alpha Scorpius), the most formidable star in Scorpio and one of the ancient royal stars. Antares, like all of Scorpio, is distinctly aggressive, but it is much more auspicious than other stars in this sign. It is a powerful augury of success, configured with Uranus by conjunction and the Sun by trine only ¾° beyond exact. The combination may symbolize one who is suddenly thrust into an elevated status; for example, via a battlefield commission. The problem with Antares is that its natives are inclined to go to extremes and create their own problems.
Vance’s Regulus was only 8m 29s of sidereal time (2⅛° of arc) below the horizon, at his birth. That and Spica, conjoined to the Moon as well as the condition of the Sun, just described, mark Vance as one who has a destiny bigger than what one would assume who finds his political positions wanting, even vacuous.
Vance looks like a classic stuffed shirt; he has accomplished little in business and nothing in politics. His foremost achievement is that he is a Marine, always a feather in anybody’s cap, and having earned a J.D. from Yale. Those are two things to be proud of, but the rest of his resumé is empty.
His election to the Senate, his first public office, was funded by Peter Thiel and played to the standard Republican platitudes about big government, crime, welfare and remarks about moral failings that he, Vance, would address. In contrast, Vance has not sponsored a single bill that has gained traction in Congress while a member of that august body. In business, he was a corporate lawyer at three venture capital businesses in six years, one of which went bankrupt. What is obvious is that his angular Venus makes him qualified to play the go-along-to-get-along game in Congress, but the condition of the Sun in Jupiter’s exaltation degree, the close contact with exalted Saturn and the close trine to Uranus conjoined to Antares make him pre-disposed to a bigger life than what his rocky childhood would suggest. In view of my interpretation that Donald Trump will become president again, but have a short time in office, Vance has symbolism which suggests that he will become the president of the U.S., a position for which he appears unqualified, unprepared and too young.
His 2024 sidereal solar return, below, is excellent with Venus and Mercury conjoined in the 10th house with Venus angular at the mid-heaven of the solar return set up for Washington. Transiting Jupiter will trine his natal Moon almost exact to the minute on election night, November 5, 2024 and the transiting Sun also that evening will be inconjunct Vance’s solar return Jupiter applying ½° from exact. His sidereal quarter solar return for April 30, 2025 has Moon conjoined to Jupiter, which easily makes the last quarter of his birthday-to-birthday year the most important part of his fortieth year.
